SereneQi requires an account, hosts follow-along courses, and offers an AI guide. Here's exactly what we collect and why.

SereneQi is a meditation and follow-along practice app. You can meditate, run custom practice timers, watch follow-along courses uploaded by contracted teachers, and chat with an AI guide ("Ask the Sage" / 问道) about traditional wellness and destiny topics. This policy explains what we collect, how it is used, and your choices.

Information we collect

• Account information. You sign in with Sign in with Apple, Google, an email and password, or (in some regions) a phone number. Depending on the method, we receive an account identifier, your email or phone, and a display name (which you can edit in the app).
• Ask the Sage (问道) conversations. When you use the AI guide, the messages you send — including any birth details (date, time, gender) you provide for a destiny reading — and the AI's replies are processed to generate a response and saved to your account as chat history so you can revisit them.
• Content you create. If you become a contracted teacher, the videos, titles, descriptions, cover images, and column details you upload are stored so they can be shown to other users.
• Teacher applications. If you apply to teach, we collect the legal name and contact detail (e.g. phone or WeChat) you provide.
• App data. Your saved routines and practice settings are stored locally on your device. Records such as courses you created, reports you file, and teachers you block are stored in our backend to run the service.

We do not use advertising identifiers, we show no ads, and we use no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.

How we use your information

• To create and secure your account and sign you in.
• To provide the service — showing courses, playing audio/video, running your practice, and answering your Ask the Sage questions.
• To review teacher applications and moderate uploaded content (approve, reject, remove).
• To respond to reports of objectionable content and enforce our terms.

Third-party services

We run our own backend and rely on the following infrastructure providers, who process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments:

• Application hosting — Google Cloud Run (our server code; Google acts only as our hosting provider).
• Database — Neon (managed PostgreSQL) stores your account, chat history, courses, and related records.
• Media storage & delivery — Cloudflare R2 stores audio, images, and course videos.
• AI (Ask the Sage / 问道) — Alibaba Cloud's Qwen (通义千问) model processes your chat messages to generate replies. Your messages are sent to Alibaba Cloud only to produce the response.
• Sign-in — Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In for authentication.

AI guidance is not professional advice

Ask the Sage (问道) is an AI feature for traditional-culture, wellness, and educational reference only. Its responses are AI-generated and do not constitute medical diagnosis, treatment, or prescription, nor financial advice or a prediction of the future. Consult a licensed professional for health, and seek emergency care when needed. You accept these terms before first use.

User-generated content & moderation

Course videos are uploaded by contracted teachers and are reviewed before they become visible to other users. Every user can report a course or block a teacher from within the app; reported content is reviewed and may be removed, and accounts that violate our terms may be suspended. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content.

How your information is shared

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers above who process it to operate the app, or when required by law. Approved course content (and the teacher's column name) is visible to other signed-in users.

Data retention & deletion

We keep your information while your account exists. You can request deletion of your account and its data — including your Ask the Sage chat history and any content you uploaded — by emailing us at the address below, and we will delete it. Cached audio and locally saved practice settings are removed when you delete the app.

Children's privacy

SereneQi is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We rely on industry-standard protections provided by our infrastructure providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
